PTTG1 and malignant colon neoplasm: Pituitary tumor transforming gene 1 (PTTG1), a ubiquitously expressed transcription factor, has been verified to be abundantly expressed in many tumors, such as pituitary, thyroid, uterine, ovarian, breast, gastric, and colon cancer, as well as HCC.3, 4 PTTG1 is involved in the processes of cellular differentiation, apoptosis, DNA damage repair, and angiogenesis.5 It is also associated with tumor growth, invasiveness, and aggressive behavior.6 PTTG1 can promote the transcription of genes that are directly or indirectly involved in tumorigenesis.
