CD4 and Pancytopenia: All 7 cases with Cryptococcal meningitis were immunocompromised (5 with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)), 1 with lupus with CD4 count of 75 yet but negative for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, and 1 with stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with pancytopenia), which likely increased mortality.
