Overexpression of Cdc20 in particular has been correlated to poor prognosis in various cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer [250], colorectal cancer [251], multiple myeloma [252], etc. Studies in cancer cell lines showed that depletion of Cdc20 caused cell cycle arrest and a reduction in cell viability, underlining active participation of Cdc20 in disease state in addition to its value as a prognostic marker. The gene discussed is CDC20; the disease is cancer.
