Interestingly, SAMHD1 phosphorylation at threonine 592 (T592) was detected in most AML cell lines (Fig. 2a), although T592 phosphorylation had in the past been suggested to be primarily associated with a loss of triphosphohydrolase activity during the S-phase of the cell cycle26–28. The gene discussed is SAMHD1; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
