The levels of other proteins involved in either HMA uptake (including the human equlibrative nucleoside transporter (hENT1; SLC29A1) and the ergothioneine transporter (OCTN1)) or HMA metabolism (including deoxycytidine kinase (DCK), uridine-cytidine kinase 1 and 2 (UCK1 and UCK2), cytidine deaminase (CDA), deoxycytidilate deaminase (DCTD), and RNR large and small subunit (RNR1 and RNR2)) (Supplementary Fig. 1)9,25 did not correlate with the cytotoxic activity of either AZA or DAC in AML cell lines (Supplementary Figs 9 and 10). The gene discussed is NR4A2; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
