Unlike hypertension-related cardiac hypertrophy, hyperthyroidism-related hypertrophy is not associated with enhanced expression of β-myosin heavy chain (MYH7) and suppression of sarcoplasmic Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA2) [3,17,27], which may contribute to heart failure and contractile dysfunction. This evidence concerns the gene ATP2A2 and cardiac hypertrophy.
