Obese patients, obese patients with type 2 DM, and patients with type 2 DM were compared with a control group in a study conducted to examine the relationship between parameters reflecting body iron stores, and the study found higher serum ferritin and CRP levels among patients than the control group.20 This finding suggested that there was a significant relationship between type 2 DM, obesity, and serum ferritin levels. Here, CRP is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
