At this time, the patient underwent a repeat tumor biopsy and RNA profiling of his cancer using an NGS assay, OSU-SpARKFuse (Reeser et al. 2017), which revealed a novel gene fusion involving FGFR2 (exons 1–16) and CLIP1 (exons 19–24) (Fig. 1A; Table 1). The gene discussed is FGFR2; the disease is cancer.
