Given that elevated ORMDL3 protein levels are associated with diabetes, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and asthma (Moffatt et al, 2007; Barrett et al, 2008; Breslow et al, 2010; McGovern et al, 2010), the sequestration of ORM family proteins from the ER and their subsequent ubiquitin‐dependent degradation likely has pathophysiological implications.
