SOX2 and cervical carcinoma: In our previous study, we have identified the expression of the embryonic stem cell-specific transcription factor SOX2 in primary cervical cancer tissues and tumorspheres formed by primary cervical carcinoma cells and found that SOX2 functions as an oncogene in cervical carcinogenesis by promoting cell growth and tumorigenicity, which was consistent with other lab’s results[7–9].
