Conclusively, similar to the effects of NFKBIB silencing or RELA overexpression, treatment with VPA reduced NFKBIB expression, which led to enhanced RELA activation, and binding to the promoter region of KIT. Consequently, VPA reduced KIT expression and enhanced apoptosis in IM-resistant GIST cells. This evidence concerns the gene KIT and gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
