EWSR1 and disease arising from reactivation of latent virus: Notably, shRNA-mediated selective repression of EWSR1 in miR-7-deficient viruses fully restored latent infection in vivo, demonstrating a key biological role for miR-7-5p repression of EWSR1. Moreover, miR-7-5p repression of EWSR1 specifically promoted latent infection of germinal center B cells, suggesting that EWSR1 repression may be a key regulatory step for gammaherpesvirus-driven B cell differentiation.
