It would have been interesting to compare staining in different subcellular compartments in associations to tumor prognostic factors and breast cancer mortality, since VDR activated by vitamin D is translocated into the nucleus and has been shown to reduce the viability of triple-negative breast cancer cell lines [30], inhibit breast cancer cell line growth [31], and induce autophagy in breast cancer cell lines and in normal breast tissue of mice [32].
