Previous research focused on decoding the genetic alterations behind these tumors, TERT promoter mutation, EGFR amplification and the presence of its active mutant EGFRvIII, chromosome 7 copy number alteration and MGMT gene promoter methylation being observed in grade IV gliomas and mutations in IDH-1, IDH-2, ATRX, CIC, FUB, and 1p/19q co-deletion being frequently identified in grade lower grade gliomas [2]. The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
