Currently, the approved immune checkpoint inhibitors for RCC are ipilimumab (a cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated protein 4 [CTLA-4] inhibitor) [120], the programmed cell death 1 (PD-1)-specific antibodies nivolumab [121] and pembrolizumab, and the programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) antibody avelumab.
