We demonstrated that liver fibrosis was attenuated, as shown by decreased pericellular and perisinusoidal collagen deposition and the profibrotic genes MMP-9 and Collagen I. Multiple active compounds in JPHX may interact with other compounds, resulting in the hepatoprotective effect in the experimental model of NAFLD through regulating lipid accumulation, inflammation, and fibrosis. The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
