The interactions between TXA2 from platelet and prostaglandins such as I2 (PGI2) from ECs (PGI2/TXA2) create a balance to maintain cardiovascular homeostasis, and these have been linked to the benefits of low-dose aspirin, as well as the effect of selective cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox-2) inhibitors on CHD [39] (Figure 2).
