NKX1-2 and cancer: Among the identified bioactive molecules are proteins that have previously been shown to suppress the proliferation of various cancer cells, including HEAT repeat-containing protein 1 (HEATR1) [39]; leprecan-like protein (LEPREL) [40, 41]; NK1 transcription factor-related protein 2 (NK1.2) [42]; small inducible cytokine subfamily E, member 1 (SCYE1 or AIMP1) [43, 44]; sushi domain-containing protein 2 (SUSD2) [45]; arylsulfatase B (ARSB) [46]; and type IV collagen [47] (Supplementary table 1).
