Netrin-1 stimulates endothelial cell proliferation and migration in vitro (Park et al., 2004), and induces angiogenesis and improves post-stroke neurovascular structure in adult mouse brains which may contribute to long-term functional outcome after ischemic injury (Fan et al., 2008; Sun et al., 2011; Lu et al., 2012).
