EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma: Newer chemotherapeutic agents, including pemetrexed and erlotinib, are associated with fewer side effects than docetaxel but have been unable to show superiority or noninferiority to docetaxel with respect to overall survival (OS) when used as second‐line therapy.3 However, treatment strategies for patients with advanced NSCLC have been revolutionized by the recent development of novel immunotherapeutic drugs with various mechanisms of action, including angiogenesis, immune checkpoint, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors.4
