Despite the limited number of samples available, we found that CTC isolated from RCC patients exhibited a predominant epithelial-like phenotype (EpCAM+, CK20+, vimentin−/N-cadherin−) as compared to the mesenchymal-like traits observed in CTC from LCC cancer patients (EpCAM+/−, CK20−, vimentin+/ N-cadherin+) (Figure 3). The gene discussed is VIM; the disease is leukoencephalopathy with calcifications and cysts.
