Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) activation has been considered to induce PKM2 translocating into the nucleus, leading to the up‐regulation of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) and lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) that jointly promote the aerobic glycolysis in a positive feedback loop.29 And this process is dependent on the extracellular signal–regulated kinase (ERK) signalling mediated by importin α5.30 Here, it was found that β‐elemene decreased the expression of EGFR, GLUT1 in a concentration‐dependent manner, as well as LDHA in both breast cancer cells (Figure 6A‐E, Figure S4A‐E). The gene discussed is SLC2A1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
