In line with other differentiation models, AnxA5 protein expression was induced in adipocytes during aging [35] and one study demonstrated an association of AnxA5 polymorphisms with obesity in a Korean patient cohort [78], which may suggest a function of AnxA5 directly or indirectly contributing to fat deposition, storage or mobilization. This evidence concerns the gene ANXA5 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
