LRRK2 and Parkinson disease: One study showed that the levels of autophagy markers p62 and LC3 were increased in induced pluripotent stem cell-derived dopaminergic neurons from PD patients with the G2019S mutation in LRRK2, which is the most common LRRK2 mutation related to PD, suggesting the involvement of abnormal autophagy in G2019S-induced neurotoxicity [101].
