TP53 and colorectal neoplasm: Gottschalg et al. [34] demonstrated that the incubation of a plasmid containing the human p53 gene sequence with diazoacetate, which plays an important role in the formation of carboxymethylated DNA bases, led to a series of mutations in the p53 gene, the observed p53 gene mutation spectrum being almost identical to that in human colorectal tumors.
