Interestingly, inhibition of EZH2 activity by EPZ-011989 also induced EZH2 protein down-regulation concomitantly with an increased expression of the known EZH2 target gene early growth response 1 (EGR1), a multifunctional transcription factor thought to act as a cancer suppressor [28] (Figure 2B).
