Two well described transcription factors that have been shown to be key regulators of adrenal development are the nuclear receptors, steroidogenic factor-1 (SF1, NR5A1, also known as Ad4BP) and Dax1 (Dosage sensitive sex reversal, Adrenal hypoplasia congenita, critical region on the X chromosome, gene-1, NR0B1/AHC). Here, NR0B1 is linked to alternating hemiplegia of childhood.
