We think that the findings of our study about the potential use of serum TIMP-1 levels during the first week of cerebral infarction for 30-day mortality prediction of those patients, and the finding in animal studies about the potential benefits of MMP activity modulators could motivate the research about the role of serum TIMP-1 levels for the mortality prediction and the MMP modulation to reduce death risk of these patients. This evidence concerns the gene TIMP1 and cerebral infarction.
