RBM4 and cancer: To further understand the role of AS, we decided to test which genes showed a statistical expression correlation with different splicing factors expression included in the array, such as ESRP2, PRMT5, and RBM4. Using a PTM analysis, we found a high statistically significant correlation between the expression of these splicing genes and important cancer-related transcription factors (Fig. 1E–G), including genes involved in cancer (ETS1, XRN2, VDR), in epigenetic mechanisms (JARID1A, HOXC9), and once again MYC and E2F transcription factors.
