While in this context the physiological induction of the TFEB seems to be unable to fully counteract disease progression, TFEB overexpression in different LSDs, such as multiple sulfatase deficiency and mucopolysaccharidosis IIIA (Medina et al., 2011), Pompe disease (Spampanato et al., 2013), Batten disease (Palmieri et al., 2017), Gaucher and Tay Sachs disease (Song et al., 2013), and cystinosis (Rega et al., 2016) resulted effective in reducing lysosomal storage. This evidence concerns the gene TFEB and mucosulfatidosis.
