Researchers have also found that LECT2 is involved in many other pathological conditions, such as obesity (Sargeant et al., 2018), skeletal muscle insulin resistance (Jung et al., 2018), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and metabolic syndrome (Yoo et al., 2017), thus suggesting the potential role of LECT2 in atherosclerosis. Here, LECT2 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
