MYH14 and channelopathy: Being bed-ridden for a long period and having immobilized large joints, often leads to critical illness polyneuropathy (CIP) and myopathy (MIP) with muscle atrophy based on axonal degeneration and myosin loss caused by microcirculatory abnormalities, metabolic derangements, reversible channelopathy, and bioenergetic dysfunctions.39 After reconstruction of the soft tissue, wound healing disorders and unstable and/or hypertrophic scars, as well as scar contractures complicate the postoperative course of treatment and rehabilitation and require further corrective interventions.38
