SF‐1 is an orphan nuclear receptor that is important in both adrenal development and steroidogenesis,25 and the importance of SF‐1 gene dosage in adrenocortical tumorigenesis has been shown in multiple studies.11, 26, 27 Interestingly, SF‐1 expression did not differ between LRTs and MHRTs in the current study, nor between adrenocortical adenomas (ACAs) and adrenocortical carcinomas (ACCs) in a previous study,10 which might appear to contradict its prognostic relevance. The gene discussed is SF1; the disease is adrenal cortex carcinoma.
