Walton [36] and Bolognin et al. [37] suggested that aluminum is engaged in the brain’s neurofibrillary tangles formation by promoting the expression of the Amyloid precursor protein (APP) of the AP and increasing the levels of β-40 and β-42 fragments in the brain and should, therefore, be considered as a causative factor in Alzheimer’s disease. This evidence concerns the gene APP and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
