It has previously been shown that the Nordic diet downregulates the expression of genes involved in inflammation in subcutaneous adipose tissue in subjects with MS, but not TNF and IL6 [26], while a diet rich in SFA has been shown to increase the expression of proinflammatory genes in the adipose tissue of people at risk of MS; again IL6 was not among these genes [27]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and myeloid sarcoma.
