GLP1R and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Subsequently, the results of additional, positive CVOTs became available and the 2018 ADA Standards of Medical Care includes the recommendation “to incorporate an agent with strong evidence for cardiovascular risk reduction, especially those with proven benefit on both major adverse cardiovascular events and cardiovascular death.”10 More recently, the ADA and EASD issued a Consensus Report on the Management of Hyperglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes,11 in which SGLT2is or GLP‐1 receptor agonists with proven cardiovascular benefit are recommended for patients with T2DM who have established ASCVD.
