Interestingly, E-cadherin expression was down-regulated in CD133+/CD26+ cells from primary CRC tumors compared to CD133+/CD26− cells, with the concomitant upregulation of N-cadherin, the E-cadherin repressor slug, as well as other EMT markers, such as twist, fibronectin and vimentin (Pang et al., 2010; Cheung et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene PROM1 and colorectal carcinoma.
