Studies investigating the relationship between chemerin and obesity have reported that individuals who followed various methods for weight loss have low serum chemerin levels compared to those in obese individuals without weight loss, and the decrease in the serum concentrations of chemerin was found to be associated with the improvement in weight loss and metabolic parameters (15,16,17,18). The gene discussed is RARRES2; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
