MAPK8 and infection: JNK signaling was both sufficient and required for AWD and Tkv induction in ISCs: knockdown of the JNK phosphatase Puckered (Puc), or overexpression of the JNK kinase hemipterous (Hep), induced the expression of Tkv and AWD in the absence of infection (Fig. 4a, b and e), while loss of the JNK basket (bsk) prevented induction in ISCs upon infection (Fig. 4c–e).
