NFKB1 and infection: Our results report for the first time that curcumin has an important hepatoprotective effect against infection induced by E. histolytica in hamster, possibly influenced by its antioxidant activity, coupled with its ability to activate the signaling of the antioxidant pathway of Nrf2, and its capacity to inhibit the activation of the transcription factor NF-κB, suggesting for the first time that this compound may be a natural alternative to prevent the liver damage induced by this parasite.
