ACE and acute kidney injury: If AKI occurs after the administration of contrast, the same recommendations formulated by the KDIGO in preventing AKI can be used: evaluate whether it is possible to stop nephrotoxic agents such as aminoglycosides, vancomycin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, and angiotensin receptor blocker; optimize hemodynamics and volume status; closely monitor kidney function and fluid balance; avoid hyperglycemia; avoid further exposure to contrast agents; and avoid gelatins, colloids, and chloride-rich solutions14,15.
