Recently, Tanaka et al. [52] measured plasma levels of antibodies and innate immune markers in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and found an increase in soluble CD14 in both disorders, and in bipolar disorder, also, an increase in C-reactive protein, IgM class antibodies against cytomegalovirus (CMV), and IgG class antibodies against HSV-2 as well as a negative relationship between IgG antibodies against CMV and scores for cognitive functions. Here, CD14 is linked to bipolar disorder.
