In particular, APIP stimulates adenosine receptor signaling via its interaction with ADORA2B upon ischemic injury and overcomes the defective protection of the ADORA2B SNP against ischemic injury in vitro and in vivo, providing a mechanistic explanation for the cardioprotective effects of ADORA2B against MI and a rationale for the therapeutic potential of APIP in MI. Here, ADORA2B is linked to myocardial infarction.
