ZEB1 and cancer: In summary, this study shows that hypoxia-induced ZEB1 potentiates TAM infiltration through the promotion of CCL8 to form a metastasis-favourable TME; thus, we uncovered a novel role for the ZEB1–CCL8 axis as a key factor in the infiltration of TAMs and propose that targeting the communication between hypoxic cancer cells and TAMs could be a promising strategy for the prevention of cervical cancer progression.
