FOXN1 and hydrops fetalis: The HFs of TCQA-treated mice were in the anagen phase and this was clearly caused by increased Wnt proteins level known to initiate HF development, and in addition, by the upregulation of β-catenin and its target Foxn1. Various studies have shown that β-catenin is strongly expressed during anagen phase in the DP and in the outer root sheath, and the absence of β-catenin induces a premature catagen phase [40,43,44].
