Magnetic resonance direct thrombus imaging (MRDTI) is a T1-weighted gradient-echo sequence that is based on a shortened T1 signal after formation of methemoglobin in a fresh thrombus.6MRDTI has been shown to accurately diagnose a first DVT and can make a distinction between chronic residual thrombotic scars and an acute recurrent DVT.7, 8, 9MRDTI could therefore potentially be used in the diagnostic management of clinically suspected recurrent ipsilateral DVT.2, 10.
