Our bioinformatics analysis using only an experimentally validated database showed that miR-15a-5p regulates genes from several pathways involved in kidney dysfunction mechanisms and DKD development (Kanwar et al., 2011): VEGFA, BCL2, NFKB1 and its inhibitor CHUK (IKKA), UCP2, and BMI1 (Figure 3A). This evidence concerns the gene CHUK and diabetic kidney disease.
