UHRF1 and hepatocellular carcinoma: In combination with our results, these evidences suggest that, at least in liver cancer, including hepatoblastomas, the disclosed UHRF1 overexpression may result in inefficient or impaired DNA methylation process, irrespective of the DNMTs expression level, contributing to the global low level hypomethylation pattern in non-repetitive intergenic sequences reported in hepatoblastomas (Cui et al., 2016; Maschietto et al., 2017) and hepatocellular carcinoma (Shen et al., 2013).
