Complementary to these findings, Mudbhary et al. (2014) demonstrated in both zebrafish hepatocytes and hepatocellular carcinoma that UHRF1 overexpression promotes DNMT1 destabilization and de-localization, driving DNA hypomethylation; further, UHRF1 increased expression was already associated with poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma, contributing to cell proliferation and metastasis (Liu et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene UHRF1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
