UHRF1 and cancer: It is known that UHRF1/DNMT1 are involved in the maintenance of the hypermethylation of tumor suppressor gene promoters in cancer (Alhosin et al., 2016; Ashraf et al., 2017); in particular, overexpression of UHRF1 was recently reported to silence specific tumor suppressor genes in hepatoblastomas (Beck et al., 2018).
