A first study by Pelajo et al. analyzed 154 JIA subjects, 18% of whom were obese and 12% were overweight; no association was found between obesity and disease activity in terms of Juvenile Arthritis Disease Activity Score 27, physician’s assessment of disease activity, parent’s assessment of child’s well-being, CRP, ESR, and number of active joints (Pelajo et al., 2012). Here, CRP is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
