While there are several studies describing repeated administration of inactivated BCG for the management of asthma (172–174), a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study in adults with moderately severe asthma and house dust mite allergy showed no efficacy of four injections with heat-inactivated BCG and no reduction in IgE compared with the placebo group (175). The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is asthma.
