Compared with malignant melanoma, CCS often involves a t(12;22)(q13;q12) translocation, which leads to a fusion of the activating transcription factor 1 (ATF1) gene located at 12q13 and the Ewing sarcoma breakpoint region 1 (EWSR1) gene at 22q12, producing the EWSR1-ATF1 fusion protein in a large proportion of patients [3–5]. Here, EWSR1 is linked to melanoma.
